10 Gallon Nano

125 Cichlids

Welcome to Forestal's Fish

Welcome to one of my obsessions. I first became interested in marine biology as a career, now is when I am picking it up. I have been caring for freshwater cichlids for approx. 12 years, and finally started saltwater after much research 8 years ago. I have started several tanks, and wished I had done them differently, and culminating in my 120 reef. I also kept seahorses for a few years and even tried my hand at raising the fry. Due to being at work all day, this was not fully possible but I came close. At one point I had 2 120gallon reefs, several nanos, and a 40 gallon soft coral tank. Things were going well for 6 years with weekly water changes and high maintenance. As I slacked off due to life issues, some of the corals suffered, and algae happened. After 8 years I decided I wasn't enjoying it and it was creating too much stress worrrying over the tank (I actually restarted it after emptying and cleaning everything). This after much deliberation started a hiatus with saltwater. I gave/sold for cheap my fish, corals, live rock, 120 gallon tank, 4 foot t5 ballast, custom sump, several skimmers I had accumulated and kept a 5 gallon with 6 pounds live rock and a Sunrise dottyback. I even threw away all my heaters, small tanks, plumbing parts, pumps (regretting that) to clean house. Now 1.5 years later, the bug is back full force with me taking more interest in all things saltwater. My dottyback is still happy, and I have added a soft coral to the tank. I have decided I will stay small tanks, to minimize the work outweighing fun ratio. I have a 125 tank at work with freshwater Tangynikan cichlids, thriving with frontosa, calvus, and shellies. I will be trying to update the website to reflect what I have now. Also 1 week ago I started a 10 gallon SW tank with sand, live rock and it is cooking. Plans for now are looking at a coral species tank -likely Pocillopora.
I have not update the links in a while, please let me know of any important informational sites and organizations. To neaten it up a bit I have put them on their own page, see the Links link. Please let me know if any are dead, I will be checking them later
