Welcome to Forestal's Family Pets Page
This page is currently a work in progress (and it probably always will be)
Today is
My Reptiles:Currently I have Bindy in a 40g screened in tank with full spectrum light and a heat lamp (100watt bulb). Substrate is sand (remember they are from the desert) and some rocks and branches for cover and basking. Feed is gut loaded crickets and veggies (lettuce/mustard greens/squash) and cottage cheese. They eat a little veggies currently but the crickets in the cage also do, so indirectly they gets them.
Our Cats:
Freddie(male):
Pete, a Yorkshire terrier mix, 8 months old we met at the Newington SPCA, he needed a new home and has blended in well, getting along with everyone at home well.
Our Golden Retriever Maggie and Katie (my daughter)with some ducks we incubated , raised and gave away; Maggie was perfect at herding, her birthday is Valentines day 2005:
Maggie and sophie hanging out in the sun room:
Wendy, Australian shephard from Aurora Kennels, 7 months old (DOB 6/2/06):
Our newest addition, Petey, Smokey, the Degus , Chilean ground Squirrels, Octodon Degu. They are closer related to rabbits than rodents, similar to chinchillas and quite social. We have them as a small group as they are happiest with company. We bought 2 males so they will not breed - there are plenty of animals out there without homes.
Our grey cockatiel, Indy (short for Indianna Jones) is a boy, knows multiple songs, born 6/06, and now even will repeat the phrase "Hello Indie"... He loves his head scratched and to hang out on our shoulders. As of xmas, Indie has a girlfriend - Sidney, who was born 7/20/07, doesn't seem to feel the same hormonally, but Indie is now trying to outcompete with us, see his posturing to my wife, trying to show Sidney who is better.
Lily: chinchilla - housed in a 4x3 foot home-made hutch with climbing spots and exercise wheel. Our newest addition which we are letting each get to know one another, is Rosy, female beige youngster (better pics upcoming), for now housed seperately abutting Lily's cage. First day they are touching noses.
Daisy our mini-rex:
Sunny - 17 year old chestnut quarterhorse; rescue from a local rescue agency - He was used as a lawn ornament and was down 600 pounds but is now doing great.
Noah - ringnecked dove who was cared for by the Lutz museum and needed a home. Great bird who gets to fly around the house and loves to laugh and coo.
